Aaron, thanks for the feedback, but if you don't like it, don't blog here! It is not as much the mechanics (which do lack in some ways) but the community of committed and supportive runners that keep us coming back day to day.
In defense of my friend Aaron, his criticisms are valid. That said, it's clear the reason the site is well-liked by many is the community, not the bells and whistles.
If, however, there was a way to be notified when someone responded to your own comment (short of having to go there and check it manually--the least user-friendly way), it would only enhance the interaction, in my opinion. As for aesthetics, well, the functionality outweighs that aspect for me, for now. Also, free is free.
You subscribe to the blog comments by joining the blog and checking the box in the options to give e-mail notifications. If someone comments on your blog, you get an e-mail. If you leave a comment on the blog, be sure to add your blog address and you will get a "comment reply" when people respond to the comments. Very simple, but Aaron must sign up for it to work.
If you want changes to the blog, post your ideas to Sasha and as he has time, he will make the changes.
Cody, thanks for the tip. It was not clear that someone who is not the blog owner would get notification. I was already enjoying the email notification for comments on my own blog.
